Crisis in Youth Sports That is Accelerating Educational Inequities in K-12 Education

Beat the Streets Bay Area, Beat the Streets Chicago and Beat the Streets National  (“Beat the Streets”), 501c-3 non-profit youth development organizations focused on improving the lives of youth in our most disadvantaged neighborhoods through wrestling and mentorship, are pleased to announce a virtual conversation on the crisis in youth sports that is accelerating educational inequities in K-12 education.

We ask you to please join our esteemed panel to discuss how the defunding and decline of school-based athletics is hurting youth in our most disadvantaged communities and impacting educational equity of K-12 education. This trend is being accelerated and magnified by the COVID-19 crisis and the rise of private club athletic programs and has been profiled in the NY Times Article: “The Lack of Youth Sports is a Crisis”.  Learn of the importance of the work that Beat the Streets programs are undertaking to address this issue.

Beat the Streets cultivates youth development in underserved communities by encouraging a desire for excellence, respect, teamwork, leadership, integrity, and perseverance through the instruction of quality wrestling programs and mentorship.
